This article theoretically analyzes the most important personal qualities for an athlete, the psychological aspects of developing motives for achieving success, the application of methods and means, the independent cultivation of will in an athlete, and the formation of a sense of active improvement. In addition, equipment and psycho-correctional exercises are presented that help determine the conscious management of one's mental state in extreme conditions of competitive activity, the maximum use of the athlete's psychoenergy depending on their activity in various sports.
