THE POETIC IMAGE OF WOMEN'S APPEARANCES IN YAHYA AL-SAMAWI'S POETRY

Abstract

This research aims to explore the elements of artistic creativity in the poetry of the contemporary Iraqi poet, Yahya al-Samawi, who lives away from his homeland for various reasons. Through the study of his diverse poetic works, which have earned him significant fame and distinction, the research discusses the definition of creative elements in poetry, both in ancient and modern times, and examines the artistic features present in his poetry. These features appear both verbally and semantically, contributing to a deeper understanding of the literary texts and revealing their aesthetic qualities. In al-Samawi’s poems, the poet skillfully employs vocabulary, expressive charges, and figurative structures. Rather than creating images out of nothing, he utilizes the available potential of the language. The findings indicate that the creativity in Yahya al-Samawi's poetry is reflected in the development of expressive power, the use of symbolic language, and the creation of new and diverse images. Additionally, the use of intertextuality and the blending of paradoxes distinguish his style from that of other poets. The semantic artistic features emerge as an essential part of the verbal features, which are indispensable in his work.
