| dc.description.abstract | This paper examined the effects of occupational health and safety standards on employees’ performance in the Nigerian work environment. Occupational health and safety is a process of ensuring that people stay safe and healthy in the workplace in order to increase their capacity to perform optimally. The workplace has become an integral part to the viability of business for employers, labour union, society and government. Therefore, the quality of workplace environment with respect to its health and safety standards invariably affects the level of employee motivation which invariably affects their performance. Health and safety standards aim at promoting and maintaining the highest degree of physical, mental and social wellbeing of employees in their respective workplaces for optimal performance. | |
