THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL APPROACHES IN CONTEMPORARY TRANSLATION STUDIES

Abstract

This article explores contemporary theoretical and experimental approaches in translation studies, emphasizing their significance across various translation domains—literary, technical, audiovisual, and machine translation. By synthesizing recent research from major academic databases, it highlights how empirical methods have enriched traditional theoretical frameworks, creating an interdisciplinary paradigm capable of addressing practical challenges in global communication and intercultural exchange. Special attention is given to Uzbekistan, showcasing prominent research trends, including notable contributions by Uzbek scholar Ziyoda Teshaboyeva Qodirovna. The analysis reveals gaps in both global and local contexts, particularly in relation to technology integration, empirical rigor, and cultural sensitivity. The article concludes with recommendations for future research directions, advocating for increased interdisciplinary collaboration, improved translator training, and deeper empirical investigations to sustain the discipline’s growth and relevance in a rapidly evolving linguistic landscape.
