Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) remains an underrecognized component of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in Uzbekistan. Although it accounts for only about 1.2% of identified pathogens, the virus can lead to severe disease, particularly in children and immunocompromised patients. This article reviews current data on prevalence, diagnostic challenges, and the potential epidemiological impact of hMPV in the country, highlighting the need for improved laboratory detection and medical awareness
